HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Well, 2018 was an eventful year to say the least. At the beginning of 2018, I set out to release as much music as I could. This involved opening up project files on my computer, finishing up songs that were gathering dust and releasing them out into the world.
For the 10 year anniversary of One Man Show, I remastered and released the album officially under Monumental Records. I also completed Extinction with Sneek, as well as Recreation with JackPot.
All the while working on my next solo album Show Must Go On! Like I said, eventful year.
PLANS FOR 2019
My plans for 2019 include the following...
- Release my album, Show Must Go On
- Finish my unreleased 2014 album (name announcement soon)
- Release more video content (freestyles + music videos)
- Produce all of my own beats and stop using beats by other producers
The first two parts of this plan isn't anything new from me. We all know that I have a proclivity for releasing previously unreleased material (Dust Gatherers, One Man Show, Recreation, etc).
However, this year, I'm going to be focusing my efforts more on using my own beats. Over the years, I've been held back by relying on other producers. This is my own fault and I put no blame on the producers that I've actually used on my albums. Shoutouts to the likes of Sinima, 2Deep, Lazaro etc. All of these producers you hear on my albums are on there because they're dope at what they do, they're professional and I consider them all good friends.
The OTHER type of producers I'm talking about are those who you haven't heard on my albums due to the lack of professionalism. This includes legal troubles with contracts and money issues. It's boring stuff, I won't get into it or name names. But it ain't easy when you rely on other people and involve other people in your projects.
So, thanks to the encouragement of people like Sinima, I've decided to take my production a bit more seriously and produce everything myself from this point on. Over the years, I've dabbled in production but didn't consider myself a producer. I've learnt a lot about mixing and mastering as well as composition. In 2018, I launched KraftyBeats.com to provide other rappers with beats in the same way that I do with other beat-makers online.
So, I'm finally at a point now where it makes sense to be producing my own beats. Besides... it'll save money AND mean that I won't have to worry about people using the same beat haha
SHOW MUST GO ON
Show Must Go On is the next album. It's a sequel to One Man Show and picks up directly where that album left off.
I'm currently having some licensing issues with some of the production on this album too (which furthers my reasoning to produce my own beats). There's a chance that I won't be able to get the entire album onto Spotify, iTunes etc.
Unfortunately, I will only know whether or not the songs will be available closer to the release date. This is because the digital stores will either accept or reject the songs when it comes time to upload them. There's no way to know for sure before that time. If they're rejected, I'll have no option but to keep the album as a digital download on Krafty.com as well as on CD.
I always appreciate it when you guys reach out and ask if my music is available on iTunes (or whichever your favourite streaming platform is). Which is why it's going to SUCK big time if I can't get this album online. However, it will be available somewhere! ?
THANK YOU
Last but not least, I wanna thank you for supporting what I do. Whether that's 5 minutes of your time reading this blog or whether it's actually buying an album and supporting my music. It's appreciated nonetheless. Especially you long timers!! You been down for years and that means a lot.
In 2018, I had a lot of you showing up for me. And I can only hope that in 2019, we SMASH the shit out of this music game with what I have planned.
Thank you all.
I wish you all happiness and health for this year. Go get it!
Peace & Love
